Hopkins, Assistant City Manager PREPARED BY: Jennifer Carey, Public Affairs Manager Subject: Approve the appointments of Delaine Bailey, Kristine Carroll, Ellen Kuhnert, Christian Meyer, Ann Palmer, Patricia Pappas, Joe Pena, Brooke Stewart, and Dixie Walters to the City Celebration Committee as recommended by City Council Liaisons Casey McKeon and Tony Strickland Statement of Issue: The City Council is asked to approve the appointment of 9 At-Large Members to the City Celebration Committee, as recommended by Council Liaisons McKeon and Strickland. Financial Impact: Not applicable Recommended Action: Approve the appointments of Delaine Bailey, Kristine Carroll, Ellen Kuhnert, Christian Meyer, Ann Palmer, Patricia Pappas, Joe Pena, Brooke Stewart, and Dixie Walters to the City Celebration Committee. Committee members will serve until their respective successors are appointed and qualified. The Council Liaison has the power to recommend replacement members for any vacancies. Alternative Action(s): Do not approve the recommended appointments, and direct staff accordingly. Analysis: The City Celebration Committee is a nine-member resident committee that aids in the development of the City's Annual Celebration Calendar. The Committee is tasked with making recommendations to the City Council Liaisons on future celebratory themes and acknowledgments. The Committee also makes recommendations to City staff on potential celebration content. The City advertised the vacancies on this newly formed committee on the City website, on social media, and at the Civic Center. As City Council Liaisons to the City Celebration Committee, Council Member Casey McKeon and Council Member Tony Strickland reviewed all received applications and made a recommendation for the City Council to appoint Delaine Bailey, Kristine Carroll, Ellen Kuhnert, Christian Meyer, Ann Palmer, Patricia Pappas, Joe Pena, Brooke Stewart, and Dixie Walters. Applications for all recommended appointees are attached.
