Purpose of cleanup
This cleanup project will ensure the protection of human health and the environment by properly managing the
Site and preventing potential future offsite impacts. Air quality monitoring has been conducted throughout the
restart cleanup effort since November 2024. Air monitoring has shown that volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
and dust levels have remained well below health protective action levels. The Site will be a fenced open space
with no future development planned.
Cleanup progress
Completed work:
• More than 100,000 cubic yards of material have been dug up and consolidated into the Site interior.
• Ascon brought more than 28,000 cubic yards of clean soil to the landfill for the construction of an
engineered cap and access road.
• 24/7 air monitoring on and offsite has been conducted since the restart of the project in November 2024,
and results show it is protective of public health. Ascon remains in compliance with the project's
SCAQMD permits.
