ISSUE STATEMENT
Bordering the Civic Center property to the south along Park Street, is an unnamed grassy area.
In 1991, a plaque honoring Desert Storm was installed on that lawn.Adjacent to the grassy area
is Huntington Beach's 9/11 Memorial at the Civic Center.Additionally, the War Memorial atop the
southern stairs pays tribute to those from Huntington Beach area who fought, died, and who are
still fighting, the prisoners of war and missing in action.
To unify the patriotic memorials across the Civic Center, this unnamed grassy area should be
named Patriot Place.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Approve and authorize the naming of the grassy area along the southern side of the Civic Center
to be named Patriot Place at the Civic Center.
