A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH
AUTHORIZING CITY STAFF TO APPLY TO THE ORANGE COUNTY
TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY FOR AN ORANGE COUNTY ENHANCED MOBILITY
FOR SENIORS & DISABLED GRANT PROGRAM TO PURCHASE
ACCESSIBLE VANS TO TRANSPORT OLDER ADULTS AND
PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Authority provides capital grants to
nonprofit organizations and qualifying public agencies for the purchase of accessible vans,
busses and related equipment to meet the transportation needs of older adults and people with
disabilities;
The City of Huntington Beach ("City")through its Community Services & Library
Department, maintains an on-going program (Surf City Seniors on the Go!) for transporting
elderly and physically challenged persons to and from their residences to such places as doctors'
offices, shopping centers and stores, social services offices and the City's Senior Center in
Central Park;
There is a need for the City to obtain newer and more modern transportation vehicles in
order to continue effectively offering this heavily utilized program; The Orange County
Transportation Authority administers the above-described grant program;
According to City staff, there are no private, nonprofit transportation agencies readily
available to carry out the Senior Transportation Program currently provided by the City;
City staff has recommended to the City Council that the City apply to the Orange County
Transportation Authority in order to buy 3 vehicles for its Senior Transportation Program; and
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby
resolve to authorize City Staff to apply to the Orange County Transportation Authority for a an
Orange County Enhanced Mobility for Seniors & Disabled Grant Program to purchase accessible
vans to transport older adults and people with disabilities.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 18th day of August , 2026.

City of Huntington Beach, and ex-officio Clerk of the City Council of said City, do
hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach is seven; that the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted
by the affirmative vote of at least a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a Regular meeting thereof held on August 18, 2026 by the following vote:
AYES: Gruel, Kennedy, Twining, McKeon, Van Der Mark, Williams
